Note: This Training has been cancelled.
When you’ve seen a disaster on the news in the last 50 years, Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (SBDR) volunteers were already on the scene—and they remained long after news cameras left town. As the third-largest disaster response group in the nation, this network of state-based volunteer teams does more than just clean up; they bring the healing of Christ to those whose lives have been shattered.
Disaster Relief Training – Saturday April 17, 2021 from 9am-3pm in Pittsburg, Kansas
(South Broadway Baptist Church – 1322 South Broadway St. Pittsburg, KS 66762)
Introduction to DR will be on Friday the 16th from 6:30pm-8pm but is not required for those traveling from out of town.
There is a major need for more volunteers. Please, join the mission already at work. We need you now more than ever. When you sign up and get trained, you are able to go, but not required. If you want to go but are not trained, it can create a safety issue. Please, join Disaster Relief, get trained on April 17th, and help us spread the hope and love of Jesus to those in a time of great stress and hopelessness.

Disaster Relief Training Topics
Flood Relief/Mudout
After the flood waters recede most everything in the house may be destroyed or left un-useable, depending on the height of the floodwater. Flood Relief teams bring the hope of Christ in a hopeless situation – meeting the physical need of drying out a house and the spiritual need with the well of living water.
Roof Tarping
Hurricanes, tornadoes and other wind events leave homes with roof damage – sometimes a few missing shingles, sometimes massive holes. The goal of the Tarping crew is to provide a temporary shelter from the elements and preserve the undamaged property until insurance can catch up and a proper roof covering applied.
Chainsaw Crew
Disasters always leave an aftermath of downed trees, we’ve all seen it on the news. It may seem logical that a chainsaw crew’s job is to clean up the debris but our work is never about cleaning up the debris. Our work is to find opportunity to share the love and gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The storm damage gives us that opportunity.
